The ILA Associates’ Network (the Network) was launched in 2010 in order to promote the benefits of associate membership of the ILA. The Network is open to junior barristers, solicitors and in-house counsel who are active in this fast-developing practice area and provides an ideal forum for associate members to build their contacts across the industry. It is the only forum of its kind dedicated exclusively to junior lawyers in the restructuring and insolvency profession. You can read more about our membership here.
The Network has a vibrant and active new committee, membership has increased and the team have organised a number of extremely successful and well-attended events covering some of the most significant industry developments.
Following the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Nortel and Lehman matters, Tom Smith and Stephen Robbins (junior Counsel in the case) gave a seminar to the Network on the judgment and the status of liabilities which can be imposed by the Pensions Regulator. The seminar addressed the ramifications for the insolvency ranking of claims and the impact of the case on the scope of administration expenses and provable debts.
The ILA Network hosted a very popular seminar given by Daniel Bayfield and Adam Al-Attar, both junior Counsel in the MF Global administration. Counsel discussed the investment bank special administration regime and the recent judgment of the High Court, arising from certain repo-to-maturity transactions entered into by MF Global.
Information relating to future events and initiatives organised by the Network will be posted on this website.
