This in person session will be chaired by Radford Goodman (Mischon de Reya) and is followed by drinks and the opportunity to meet and network with insolvency and restructuring colleagues.
Insolvencies involving allegations of fraud give rise to a wide range of issues and challenges for office-holders and their advisers that go beyond the usual application of the Insolvency Act regime. Inadequate records, the involvement of multiple public agencies, the need for urgent interim relief, media attention, and the importance of proprietary rights and tracing, to name a few. In a wide-ranging discussion, our panel of leading experts will give their perspectives on how some of these challenges play out in practice and the strategies that can be used to meet them. At a time when fraud is almost constantly in the headlines, we hope this will be a topical and thought-provoking event.

Speakers:
Sonia Tolaney KC, One Essex Court – Sonia is the Joint Head of Chambers and widely regarded as one of the leading Commercial Silks at the Bar. She was named a Star Individual in Banking & Finance and Commercial Dispute Resolution in the Chambers UK Bar Guide 2026, was awarded Advocate of the Year at the 2026 Women & Diversity in Law Awards, and was shortlisted for "Barrister of the Year" at The Lawyer Awards 2026. She was appointed a s9(4) Deputy High Court Judge in 2016; the Attorney General to the Duchy of Lancaster in 2020; and she is admitted to appear in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and the Supreme Court of Bermuda. Sonia recently acted for the Claimant in Credit Suisse Virtuoso SICAV-SIF v SoftBank (a Greensill-related claim under s.423 of the Insolvency Act 1986) and in the Court of Appeal (Grand Cayman) in the Job51 case (under s238 of the Cayman Islands Companies Act - a dispute concerning the fair value of dissenters’ shareholdings). She is described in Chambers UK 2026 as "…the best advocate at the London Bar".
Lynn Dunne, Ashurst Perkins Coie – Lynn is the head of the Contentious Restructuring and Insolvency Group in London. She is best known in the market for having a well-versed restructuring and insolvency (including cross-border insolvency) practice and also a financial institutions strategic advisory practice covering banking disputes and regulatory and internal investigations. Most recently Lynn has been advising both the joint administrators of Stenn International Limited and State Oil Limited (part of the Prax group). She also advised the Official Receiver as liquidator of the Thomas Cook Group companies.
Shane Crooks, BDO – Shane focuses on complex and contentious insolvency appointments featuring investigations, asset tracing and litigation, often of a cross-border nature. Notable appointments include liquidator of Allied Wallet following an FCA winding-up petition, administrator of the Collateral UK peer-to-peer lending group, court-appointed receiver over substantial private equity interests for Sebastian Holdings, and court-appointed receiver managing $3.3bn litigation claims for the Libyan Investment Authority.
