Academic Connections

The academic community specialising in restructuring and insolvency issues is particularly strong and vibrant in the UK. Increasingly, their views are influencing judges and the market alike. The rate of publicati on of high quality works by academics in our area has never been higher and is increasing.

The ILA has a long associati on with the academic community in the restructuring and insolvency field. It has sponsored specific academic meetings on topical issues and over many years contributed to The Insolvency Lawyer and Insolvency Intelligence with which it was closely associated.

The ILA has 11 distinguished professors who were invited by the ILA Council to become honorary members of the ILA and who form the Academic Advisory Group. Further, any individual who holds an academic post at a place of learning and who has an interest in the theory and practice of insolvency law and administration may be invited by the ILA Council to become an Academic Member of the ILA.

Therefore, the ILA intends to continue to work closely with academics, including inviting further applications for Academic Membership from both within the UK and overseas and sponsoring particular academic projects. Any academics wishing to seek Academic Membership of the ILA or with any other queries on academic matters of interest should contact the ILA President on
